EMOTIONS OF AN ACTIVE HOLIDAY
Historians claim that this picturesque town, stretched over a tufaceous terrace between two tributaries of the Isclero river and not far from Mount Taburno, was built on the site of the Samnite city of Saticula, in 313 BC deduced as a Roman colony. The internal streets are still on a human scale: walking these characteristic streets on foot and discovering the squares, which suddenly open up, the monuments and palaces, which rise majestically at the exit of the narrow alleys, is a pleasure for the eyes and for the mind. But Sant’Agata de ‘Goti is not just history, it is also green and unspoiled nature, in which to immerse yourself to live unique experiences, suitable for all tastes and all levels. You don’t need to be a professional to enjoy the many active experiences that this timeless territory lends itself to, in which history, art, nature and food and wine are intertwined.

Waking up with a delicious breakfast.Possibility of one of the following experiences:
- Visit of Montesarchio, a populous town that extends at the foot of the Taburno. It is the major center of the Caudina Valley and stands on the area where once was the Roman Caudium, which an intense excavation campaign has brought to light. The fifteenth-century Castle is worth a visit, donated by the D’Avalos to Ferdinand II of Bourbon and later transformed by the King into a gloomy prison, famous for having hosted, among others, Carlo Poerio.Worthy of note is the National Archaeological Museum of Sannio Caudino, located inside the aforementioned castle and which houses the most beautiful vase in the world: the Assteas Crater, depicting the rape of Europa, a Phoenician princess kidnapped by Zeus, who for the occasion took on the appearance of a white bull. The crater was found in Sant’Agata de’ Goti in the early 70s of the twentieth century by a construction worker, who brought it into his home and then sold it on the black market for a million lire and a pig.The crater then followed the chain of a criminal organization dedicated to the international trafficking of historical artifacts, being deposited in Switzerland awaiting a buyer. Hence, The Rape of Europa was sold to the Getty Museum (Malibu, California), which exhibited it from 1981 to 2005.Thanks to one of the Polaroids taken by the worker, the Carabinieri of the Cultural Heritage Protection Command were able to demonstrate the real origin of the crater, which is now on display at the National Archaeological Museum of Sannio Caudino.
